Art journal

This is all of my work from the end of my junior year in high school to now, i thought it would be cool for  you guys to see the progression of my work. I apologize for my writing it is no where near gramatically correct.

Imagination

This piece was done at the end of my junior year in high school. it is a portrait of my friend sarah she had asked me to draw her. I really let myself experiment with designs and collage on this one, it was very spontaneous and free. this piece is being used by the band issues for there promotional cards:)

She makes dirty words sound pretty

this piece is the piece that sparked the idea for the mayday series. it is titled/inspired by the song she makes dirty words sound pretty by johnny craig. the song goes well with the piece if you care to listen and observe simutaneously.

Butterfly

I titled this piece butterfly because a butterfly can't see how beautiful it is, yet everyone else can, similarly some woman have this butterfly mentality, this piece was inspired by the discovery of beauty.
the lyrics on the left are from the song morning air by jason reeves. it goes really well with this piece if you want to listen to it well you look at my piece:)

the color of the morning air

 the sound of silent stares,

the perfect spirals in your hair

the pillow smells like your skin

you tilt your head towards mine

open slow your pretty eyes

Buffalo

Slow Dancing In A Burning Room

This piece was titled after a john mayer song. I'm not really sure what to say about this one, i was inspired by ben tours use of expressive line and this was my first attempt at emulating that technique.

love and spades
in this piece i went of the idea of a card game and related it to love. life is not a card game although some people act as though it is. i really let myself go on this one. at first i hated it, but it has grown on me. if you look at the scribbles below the nose you can see the and sign and the word spades in the mess.

Foxy

Australian

this piece was inspired by jonny crags solo album "a dream is a question you don't know how to anwser." this album is one of my all time favorites.

True Love

this is a portrait of my friend sarah, i took the photo when we were in urban outfitters and she was trying on mask. this piece is inspired by the quote "true love is the souls recognition of its counterpoint in another" it is written on the left side of the piece.  I actually heard this quote on the movie wedding crashers :) its one of my favorite movies.

mayday mayday

this is one of my favorite pieces. raindrops and umbrellas i love them both. there is a purple city scape on the right side of the mouth and a black city scape on the eye.  this piece was inspired by the band mayday parade.

Mayday

this was my first canvas,  it was  inspired by the band mayday parade, i  tested a lot of different things out, some worked and some did not, my favorite number 26 is on the shoulder.

Smooth

another piece from earlier in my senior year, i made this piece right before spring break. it was inspired by the song smooth by rob thomas and carlos santana and the beach.  the red thing that kinda looks like a flower was suppose to be a palm tree and the 2 lines represent the waves and the orange circle that has been faded with white spray paint is the setting sun. the idea to create this piece came from
"she makes dirty words sound pretty" in my mayday series.

Miserable at best

this song was inspired and titled after the song miserable at best by mayday parade. there is a city scape on the shoulder as well as the number 26 both are reoccurring elements in my work. the eyes were actually from a piece that i messed up on earlier and i cut them out and redid it. the idea for this came from the piece australian in my mayday series.

Peace
another piece from earlier on in my senior year i didn't plan on it, but it turned out to kind of look like a hippie. i incorporated collage paper and added layers on top of it to give it depth. also if you look closely the number 2 is repeated multiple times.

Saxy

saxy is one of my happier pieces. this piece was originally part of the mayday series, but i decided to cut it out and make a new piece with it. this was the first piece that i really made an effort to work on a background. I was listening to a lot of jazzy music while making this. one of those songs which i highly recommend listening to if you haven't heard it is "stop it, i like it" by rick guard.

Rain

this is one of my favorite pieces it was very spontaneous i collaged over my mistake on the bottom where you see the poke dots it is paper.  i did this at the end of my senior year in high school i used a lot of spray paint, sharpie and watercolor on this piece. if you look closely you can see the number 26 on the right hand side, 26 is my favorite number, it is hidden in a lot of my works:)

Toxic Romance
this is my punk version of snow white it was inspired by the song toxic valentine by all time low. this piece was one of my biggest pieces its on a 30 x 30 canvas? maybe I'm not sure but its very large. the background was done in spray paint and the figure was done on separate sheets of paper and pieced together on the canvas. christopher drews (lead singer of never shout never) tattoos were an inspiration for this piece.

Adventure owl

this is by far the longest i spent on a design i believe i spent roughly 30 hours on this design. I pulled parts of my other works to use for this and pieced it together in photoshop with a design and outline that i did by hand. this was another T-shirt design i did in the summer of 2012.

Anchors and Tears

I created this piece in september of 2012, Just before my 19th birthday. This was the first piece that i mixed digital elements in my art, everything was scanned and pieced together on photoshop. "Anchors and tears" was the result of a contest held on Facebook where i took photograph submissions and drew the winner.

The Song of The Sirens

this piece was created in late september of 2012,  I did a portrait of my wonderful girlfriend Alexa:) I again went digital and pieced everything together in photoshop. The background was an optical illusion assignment in my 2d design class.

Merry Christmas Deer

pun intended:) this is the christmas t shirt i did for my t shirt company " Forest Ink" this year, it was put together in photoshop.

Black Diamond

I dedicated this piece to the band Issues, after working with tyler carter and his band. I was very inspired by there black diamond theme for there first album. The quote "we are all black diamonds in the rough" really stuck with me and provided inspiration for this piece.
The Ocean
this piece has a sex on the beach type theme. I wanted to incorporate tattoo designs into this one, i brought that element in with the stars and the anchor. I used collage on the neck.  i also brought in letters and numbers.
